Accel Spark Plug Wires

A spark plug wire's task is no joke. Imagine carrying 50,000 volts multiple times a second under a 200-degree temperature. It is responsible for harnessing tens of thousands of volts and delivering this juice to the spark plugs every time, without fail. A poor-quality spark plug wire can waste your engine's energy by driving the electricity somewhere else.

Cool off with efficient GMC radiators available here with free shipping

Engines work in an arduous environment that creates friction and heat, in order to avoid the engines from overheating, radiators would be needed. GMC knows the importance of these auto parts in their vehicles. That is why they equip their vehicles with high quality GMC radiators for better engine performance. Since GMC is aimed at producing high performing and reliable vehicles, durable GMC parts are required for smoother operation.

GMC radiators are just some of the essential equipments in vehicles. The radiator is basically responsible for cooling the engine and nearby components by distributing cooling agents like a coolant. This coolant is a liquid, usually a mixture of water with ethylene glycol or antifreeze and a little corrosion inhibitor. This fluid then moves in a closed system from the radiator to the engine, where it conducts heat away from the engine parts and carries the heat primarily to the radiator. GMC radiators are strategically placed behind a vehicle's grille in order to benefit from the cool air coming in. The radiator not only cools the engine but also takes the heat away from the engine.

Radiators are tasked to at least take one-third of the heat produced in the combustion process, in order to avoid overheating. Motorists should know that for each vehicle type and capacity, there is a corresponding radiator. It is important that the radiator suits the needs of the engine for an efficient vehicle performance. For more effective cooling process, some engines have an additional oil cooler. This is a separate small radiator to cool the motor oil. Today, some cars that come with automatic transmissions have extra connections to the radiator, which is responsible to let the transmission fluid transfer its heat to the coolant in the radiator. Meanwhile, Turbo charged or supercharged engines may be equipped with an intercooler. As one of the highly used component in a vehicle, regular maintenance of the radiator is recommended. It is advised that vehicles more than five years old have their radiators check at least once every two years.

GMC truck bumpers protect the passengers

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Vehicles are prone to many hazards on the road which may damage internal or external auto parts. To keep auto parts from those hazards, various safety features are installed in a vehicle. GMC is one car manufacturer that makes sure its vehicles are protected by installing high quality GMC parts on its cars. This is why GMC is known for their SUVs and pickup trucks that boast performance. One way GMC trucks keep their auto parts safe is through GMC truck bumpers.

GMC truck bumpers are helpful for they act as protection for the hood and engine in minor, low-speed collisions. Bumpers act as buffers, absorbing most of the damage of collisions before it reaches the hood. They can be installed in either the front or rear of a vehicle. Since their location makes them the first component to be in contact during a collision, they are able to prevent extensive damage to the vehicle. They are specifically made to suit a certain type of vehicle to improve its performance and safety. GMC truck bumpers, for example, are higher compared to passenger cars. Higher bumpers provide better clearance for driving in steep paths. Higher bumpers also prove to be helpful when motorists drive over large rocks and other objects during off-road operations.

Bumpers not only affect the performance of a vehicle, they also contribute to the external appeal of the vehicle. Some car enthusiasts opt for customized bumpers for a more stylish look. In the past, styling and customization was not really included in a bumper’s function. Early bumpers were just strap or flat iron incorporated in a vehicle. Later on chromed bumpers became the fad, especially in the 1960s. By the early 1970s, self repairing bumpers were introduced and after a while they became mandatory. This led to modern bumpers addressing the need for auto part safety and car customization.

Cold Air Intakes, Making F-250 Cooler to Drive

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

The series of Ford pickup trucks have already established themselves as tough-on-the-road vehicles and the F-250 is one of them. Improvements and upgrades on its parts are continuously being done to ensure it keeps up with the changing times. But one could still attest that installing an F-250 cold air intake is one of the best ways to improve performance.

F-250

The F-250 cold air intake could be considered a performance system as it is composed of tubes and sometimes come with an air filter as well. However, these tubes have large diameters for the purpose of taking in more oxygen. The result of more oxygen is an increase in horsepower brought by the injection of colder or denser air. The trick it does is not to take in the hot under-the-hood air, instead draw in only the cold outside air. It is already a common knowledge that combustion generates heat so the introduction of cold air into the hot chamber is really beneficial. The cold air helps in reducing the pressure of heat, all the while creating more efficient burn. Better fuel economy, more horsepower, longer-lasting engine – these are some of the good things that come with the installation of an F-250 cold air intake.

Cold air intakes are among the sure ways to a more powerful driving performance. And here’s the best part – these are easily available in most auto parts stores and at a price just under a hundred dollars. All cold air intakes are the same, the difference only lies in the quality of materials used. But deep down, cold air intakes still have the same goals – bring in more cold air and provide for a more efficient combustion.

True, the 300+ horsepower of F-250s may be enough, but wouldn’t it be more cool and fun to have more than that? This performance part even has tempting offers as it is within a reasonable budget and its installation is quite easy. So, for a cooler driving experience, installing an F-250 cold air intake is the way to go.

DIY: Cold Air Intake

Sunday, February 1, 2009

Vehicle performance is everything for some car owners and they’d give anything to achieve that. But of course, being practical when it comes to vehicles is also one way to achieve the desired performance. It doesn’t always have to be expensive as one can always get himself a cold air intake or better yet, make one with a DIY (Do-It-Yorself) cold air intake. This device is one of the inexpensive ways of boosting up performance.

Cold Air Intake

But before looking into details on how to make one, one has to be knowledgeable about the nature of the device. As mentioned, it boosts vehicle performance. It does so by taking in a colder or denser air from outside the engine bay (not from under the hood which is what the stock air intakes do). It also absorbs great quantities of cold air as its main goal is to supply more oxygen for a more efficient combustion.

Now that the functions of cold air intakes are established, below are the steps on how to make a DIY cold air intake. These would be helpful for those who want to try to unleash the mechanic in them.

First, one has to go to the store and buy the needed tools which are cone filter with an inlet diameter of about 3mm, a rubber hose that’s about 55mm, a flexible heavy truck 3mm exhaust tubing, 4-3.5mm clamps, and a high temperature paint (which is optional). The tools that one would just need are hack saw, sockets and some wrenches.

1. First thing to do is to remove the stock factory air intake installed.
2. Cut the stock air intake hose, get a heat gun and heat the rubber hose. While doing so, work the tubing into it. Get the clamp and put it over the rubber hose’s edge.
3. After that, take it and bend it the way it is needed to be bent. Be sure to leave as much space as possible between the exhaust manifold and the tubing (at least 1-2-inches). Then, remove the bracket that holds the factory intake in place. Remove the bolts that hold it and keep them somewhere safe. This will provide room to work on. Make sure that the gap between the road and the tubing is about 14-inches. Also note the length of the filter – if it is longer, make the pipe smaller. Measure the ground and the tubing using a ruler then cut it across.
4. Then start working on the air filter on to the tubing. Use the heat gun to warm the rubber part of the filter with then continue sliding it on the tubing. After that, place the clamp on the edge of the air filter’s rubber part and secure it down.
5. Support the tubing with the bracket that was holding the air intake before and bend it so that it becomes parallel to the tubing. One could also heat it so that it would be easier to bend it with a plier.
6. To secure the cold air intake in place more, reinstall the bracket and get the 2 clamps over it and the tubing. Then jack the front end of the car up, then put the clamp through the hole in the frame and around the tubing. Another reminder: don’t forget to securely tighten the clamp on the hose of the air intake on the throttle body. Then, check that all clamps are tightened down.
7. Now, it’s all set! Take the car for a drive and feel the difference that the cold air intake provides.

CV boot: Achilles' heel of Mazda drivetrain

Protect Mazda suspension with these heavy-duty Mazda CV boots

The suspension setting of every Mazda model with front- or four-wheel drives is designed to transmit the rotational motion from the engine to the drive shaft while enabling the wheels to turn. It has to enable the wheels to steer the car at the same time that engine power is being transferred at different angles. Compared to the rear suspension setting of the Mazda drive train, the steered wheels of the car is linked to the drive shaft through a specialized coupling called constant velocity or CV joint. Mazda CV joints are the rubber-encased billet at the end of the shaft barrel. They are held in place by a circlip and shielded from road salt and degreasing by a Mazda CV boot. Inside the rubber are ball bearings and bushings that engage the shaft barrel every time it flows torque. At the other end of the Mazda CV joint are the network of clamps and gears that lead to the drive wheels.

Mazda CV boots

There are two most commonly used types of Mazda CV joints: ball-type and tripod-type CV joints. Different variations of ball-type Mazda CV joints are used on the outer side of the drive shaft, where more torques are inflicted on the chassis, while tripod-type Mazda CV joints are mostly used at the inner side of the drive shaft. They hardly require any maintenance and are supposed to last very long provided that the protective CV boot will not get damaged. Once the Mazda CV boot is torn apart, the grease comes out and the moisture and dirt come in, eventually causing the CV joint to fail due to lack of lubrication and corrosion. When a damaged boot surfaces early, simply replacing the Mazda CV boot and repacking the CV joint with fresh grease can fix the problem. If the Mazda is still ran with broken CV boots, the CV joint or the whole drive shaft stands to get broken. In worst cases, the CV joint may disjoin, ruining the drivetrain setting of the car from the suspension system to the transmission system.

Protectors of Audi's cargo flooring and ignition system

Prevent dents, dirts, ang fluids from damaging and defiling your Audi Q7's cargo flooring. Acquire an Audi Cargo Liner from us, and get discounts when you buy an Audi Distributor Cap.

Cargo areas of Audi vehicles, especially the SUV Q7, are susceptible to pesky dents and even stains. Because of this, an Audi Cargo Liner is fitted on the Q7's flooring. Audi cargo liners are made from durable polyethyelene materials that can protect the cargo floor area from bumps, scratches, and even stains. Usually, an Audi Cargo Liner has raised edges to trap spills and dirt within the cargo bed, preventing the harmful substances from going into the cargo hold. Cargo Liners also have textured surfaces to keep the cargo in place, giving it greater grip and preventing them from sliding. With an Audi Cargo Liner neatly tucked on the truck bed, the flooring is safe from damages.

Protecting Audi ignition system's distributor, meanwhile, is the Audi Distributor Cap. The distributor is a device which routes the high voltage in the correct firing order to the spark plugs. Audi distributor caps are used to cover the distributor and its internal rotor. The rotor switches a high sparking voltage to the spark plugs to enable accurate firing. The Audi Distributor Cap contains one post for each cylinder. In multi-point ignition systems, there is a central post for the coil voltage coming into the distributor. In High Energy Ignition systems where there is no central post, the ignition coil is placed on top of the distributor. On the inside of the cap there is a terminal that corresponds to each post. The plug terminals are arranged around the circumference of the cap according to the firing order with the aim of sending the secondary voltage to the proper spark plug at the exact right time. However, the Audi Distributor Cap is a prime example of a component that easily yields to heat and vibration. Carbon deposits and eroded metal terminals can cause distributor cap failure. Replacement therefore is a must.

It is good to know though, that replacing a worn out cargo liner or faulty distributor cap may not cost much for an owner. Yet, it is recommended that cargo liners and distributor caps be regularly cleaned and checked respectively to achieve the desired longevity for these parts.

Keeping Alignment in Place with Multi Rib Belts

Ensure that all parts are in place with multi rib belts

Volvo has always been one of the most trusted automotive names in the industry. Consistently producing cars that deliver laudable road performance, Volvo has earned the respect and esteem of a considerable number of car consumers worldwide. But performance and efficiency in function wouldn’t have been possible if not for Volvo quality parts that work well in providing that much-needed vehicle performance. If not for the quality materials and extensive effort Volvo incorporates into every stage of its production process for Volvo car parts, it's unlikely that these cars would have gained the admiration they now enjoy. Among these parts are Volvo Multi Rib Belts. Volvo Multi Rib Belts fulfill quite a significant role in the automotive system, ensuring that the alignment of other car parts is well and truly maintained. This is the solution that car engineers came up with in order to see to the slippage and alignment problems many car owners have to contend with.

Of course, as cars enjoy a rich history of continuous evolution, so do their parts. Speaking of thus, Volvo Multi Rib Belts were developed as early as 1917 by John Gates of the Gates Rubber Company. The V-shape of its belt tracks in a mating groove in the pulley or sheave guarantees that the belt will not slip off. This mechanical belt often wedges into the groove as the load increases. The belt’s basic principle is that the greater the load is, the greater the resulting wedging action as well. This operation proves to be of great importance as it enhances the torque transmission, thus making it a really effective means to deal with slippage. Because these belts keep the alignment in place, they are built with teethed structure. Volvo Multi Rib Belts may also be supplied with different fixed lengths, or as segmented sections, where the segments are connected to form the required length of the belt. For Volvo owners with vehicles that require strong engine power, installing two or more Volvo Multi Rib Belts joined side by side in an arrangement called a multi-V and ultimately running on matching multi groove sheaves is highly recommended.

Materials involved in the production of Volvo Multi Rib Belts are guaranteed to be high quality materials. This ensures that Volvo Multi Rib Belts are able to preserve the alignment for quite a long time. For this reason, a Volvo Multi Rib Belt is often made with fibers like steel, polyester or aramid like Twaron and often sports a teethed structure.

Acura Integra LS Cold Air Intake

Boosting it Up the Easy Way

Acura, the luxury brand of Japanese automaker Honda Motor Corporation, is already enjoying respect from its owners with regards to its performance. This respect could be vouched by the number of awards that its vehicles already received. An example of its awards is the 2007 Editor’s “Most Wanted Vehicle” SUV Under $45,000 that one of its luxury SUVs received. Another one of its remarkable vehicles is the Acura Integra LS with its fine performance. But for greater horsepower output, an Acura Integra LS cold air intake could be installed in place of the stock factory intake.

The Acura Integra LS cold air intake is better than the factory air intake because of its ability to take in more oxygen into the combustion chamber. At least 15 percent more horsepower could be expected just with the simple installation of this performance part. That is because more oxygen results into the more efficient burning of air and fuel. The intake of more oxygen is made possible by the tubes of the cold air intake that have large diameters. These tubes also feature smooth interiors which will be helpful for the smooth passage of air.

But the most beneficial contribution of this performance part is the reduction of heat in the combustion chamber brought by the intake of cold air. This cold air will be a relaxing change in the hot environment of the combustion chamber. Neutralizing this heat will also extend the life of the Acura Integra LS engine.

This performance part is not a standard part yet, thus, aftermarket companies take it upon themselves to manufacture cold air intakes. They even make cold air intakes that are specific to vehicle models to ensure efficient operation. So, car owners can easily find this part in aftermarket performance parts dealers. But of course, they have to make sure that the cold air intakes will suit the specification of their vehicles. That is the only way that cold air intakes could maximize their functions.

Broken Ford truck tail lights? Get new and affordable ones here

Automotive safety can be as high-tech as crumple zones and multiple air bags or to the simple efficient lighting systems. Motorists should never take for granted simple auto parts such as lighting systems for these are usually that actually save them from danger. Ford trucks for example, are fully equipped with tail lights to let following motorists know their intended actions. Various Ford trucks have been receiving numerous safety features like the recent video camera at the back of the vehicle. This is very helpful for motorists to see if the rear of the vehicle is getting too close to another object or vehicle. But reliable Ford truck tail lights will remain to be important features despite all the technological advancements being offered today.

Ford truck tail lights are lighting systems installed in the rear end of a vehicle, which come in pairs for the left and right side. The system is composed of different lighting assembly, each with a specific function, but once they are combined together, can form the most important function – to maintain visibility of the vehicle. The rear lighting assembly of a vehicle is composed of the park light, rear signal lights, reverse light and brake light. The park light serves the main function of the Ford truck tail lights, which is to give visibility to the vehicle. This is very helpful especially in a dark road, heavy rainfall and snow. Meanwhile, the rear signal lights, let nearby motorists know which way a vehicle is heading. The reverse light informs the following motorists that the vehicle is backing up. On the other hand, the brake light warns other motorists that the previous vehicle is about to stop or is slowing down. This can make the following driver ready himself/herself that he/she should also slow down to avoid colliding to vehicle in front. Ford truck tail lights can make a lot of differences and can avoid collisions. That is why it is important that motorists maintain their lighting system and make sure that everything is in good condition. They should immediately change any light that have burned out, for a safer drive.

Ford has pride in the pickup truck industry and until today it remains to build high quality trucks, capable of handling numerous loads. Durable Ford parts are responsible for this, like the Ford truck wheels. These auto parts are essential in any vehicle especially in a Ford truck, since it is designed to take on various loads. The wheels are one of the vital components of a vehicle. Without it, the entire vehicle will not be able to operate. The wheels support the tires and play a role in accelerating, braking and cornering. Ford truck wheels can either be made of steel, aluminum or other alloys to effectively support the weight of the vehicle. Steel wheels often have a wheel cover at the outer edge for aesthetic purposes.

Aside from affecting vehicle performance, Ford truck wheels can also enhance the external features of a vehicle. Some car enthusiasts even replace their original wheels in order to achieve a much better look. With the wide selection the market offers today, motorists can easily choose the right wheels for them whether it may be chrome or spinners.

Since the wheels contribute to the exterior look of a vehicle they should be well maintained. It is advised that motorists clean their wheels frequently and to avoid using cleaners that have abrasive materials those that may remove the protective coating and scratch the wheels.
