Keeping The Brake System Intact

Many parts comprise a car's brake system including brake pads, brake rotors, brake caliper, brake discs, brake pistons, and brake dusts. With such a very complex brake system, one must observe the performance of his car when it comes to braking because it is the most vital safety precaution for everybody.



Luckily, Mazda vehicles come with a complete and high-quality car brake system. Its parts are made of durable components that are bound to outlast other makes. One of these parts is the Mazda Brake Caliper, the assembly which holds the brake pads and pistons, usually aluminum- or chrome-plated iron-made.



The Mazda Brake Caliper can either be floating or fixed. A floating or sliding caliper moves according to the disc. There is a piston on one side of the disc that pushes the internal brake pad until it makes contact with the braking surface. Then, it pulls the caliper body with the external brake pad, exerting pressure on both sides of the disc. Floating caliper designs are prone to failure due to sticking, caused by dirt or corrosion if the vehicle is not operated regularly. This can cause the pad attached to the Mazda Brake Caliper to rub on the disc when the brake is released. There will be reduced fuel efficiency and excessive wear on the affected pad. Additional heat generated by the constantly rubbing pad can also lead to warping of the rotor. The second type of caliper is called a fixed caliper which moves independently. Instead, it uses one or more pairs of pistons to clamp from each side of the disc. It is more complex and expensive than a floating caliper.



The Mazda Brake Calipers play an important role in the brake system, so they should be given priority like the rest of the parts. Every part should be maintained well and constantly checked to avoid the car brake's failure.

  1. THE CAPACITY TO BRAKE WILL GRADUALLY DETERIORATE FORCING THE DRIVER TO USE A HIGHER THAN EXPECTED FORCE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN COMPARED TO AN INTACT BRAKE SYSTEM. THE DETERIORATION CAN EVENTUALLY RESULT IN COMPLETE LOSS OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM FUNCTIONALITY INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
